OLYMPIA — On Aug. 15, legendary icon, musician and philanthropist Dolly Parton will visit Washington State to celebrate achieving statewide coverage of the Imagination Library. All Washington children from birth to age five can now register to receive one book every month, for free, from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

I’d like to share a story about a life well lived. On Saturday, July 29, Glenn and I drove to Prineville to attend a celebration of long-time friend Mike Templeton. Close to 300 guests gathered in Carey Foster Hall at the Crook County fairgrounds, with close to 300 for a memorial for Mike, who passed away in April of this year.

HOOD RIVER — Nothing slows down Maddie Woo — not even open-heart surgery.

When Woo was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome before her first birthday, her mom, Karen “Woody” Woodbury, wasn’t sure what the future held. But never did she think that her daughter would be representing her country on a global scale. Woo was one of two para-equestrian riders who represented the United States at the 2023 Virtus Global Games in Vichy, France. The sixth annual games are the world’s largest sporting event for elite athletes with intellectual disabilities.
