SALEM — Rep. Jeff Helfrich (R-Hood River) had the following to say on the passage of HB 4153-A, the farm store permitting bill:

“I have been focused all Session on making Oregon a more business-friendly place, and the passage of this measure moves us one step closer to that goal. I represent a district where agriculture is the backbone of our communities.
"This bill strikes a balance by allowing counties to approve farm stores on farmland, giving farmers the ability to sell products grown on their farm and from other farms in the local agricultural area. Not only that, but it allows agri-tourism activities like farm tours, education events, hayrides, and farm-to-table experiences. In today’s business climate, it’s important we provide ways for small businesses to innovate so they can stay in Oregon.
"It's a win for small business, a win for our farmers, a win for common sense, and a win for House District 52.”
