Kristin Annett Thompson, 74, passed away peacefully on Sept. 6, 2026, in Grants Pass, Oregon. Kristin was born on July 17, 1952, in the Dalles, Oregon, to Charles and Hazel Harding. She was raised in The Dalles with her sibling, Arnold.
In 1970, Kristin graduated from the Dalles High School and later attended Phagen’s Beauty School. Kristin worked for many years as a beautician at the Shady Lady Salon, where she was introduced to her husband of 47 years, Carl “Bud” Thompson. Kristin and Carl married on April 28,1979, and had two daughters, Jenny and Rebecca. They made their home in The Dalles, where they started Poppy’s Mini Mart, and later moved to Rogue River, Oregon, where they owned Foots Creek Deli until they retired in 2017. Kristin was an outgoing and social person who never met a stranger. Her favorite place was Cannon Beach, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Hazel Harding, and brother Arnold. She is survived by her husband Bud; her daughters Jenny Thompson (Melissa) of Nehalem, Oregon, and Rebecca Maxwell (Darnell) of Grants Pass, Oregon; and grandchildren Danté Pierce, and Hazelynn and Da’Shawn Maxwell. The family extends a special thank you to the wonderful staff of Kinsington at Redwood Park for their love, care and support. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
