Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
William Patrick Boyd, 70, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026. A long time Pendleton resident, he was born on Jan. 18, 1956, to Virgil William and Patricia Bridget (Daly) Boyd. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served mass as a youth. He attended school kindergarten through 12th in Pendleton, Washington Elementary, St. Joseph’s Academy and graduated from Pendleton High School in 1974. He also attended BMCC in general studies.
He liked to hunt, fish, horses and his family. Bill farmed dryland wheat and alfalfa most of his adult life in Umatilla and Morrow counties. He retired and moved to Hood River in 2021 to help our son, Travis, with our small pear orchard and grandkids, Presley, Kennedy and Wyatt.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Cindy; son, Travis and grandchildren Presley, Kennedy, and Wyatt; sister, Sandra Boyd; brother, Mike (DeeAnn) Boyd; and nieces and nephews and many cousins. His in-laws are Ronda and Chuck Wyatt, Tami and Dusty Pace, and Quincy and Penny Hoeft.
A graveside service was held at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton on Feb. 28. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute to support cancer research; contributions can be made online at give.ohsufoundation.org (there is a drop down option to choose the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute), or send directly to the OHSU Foundation, P.O. Box 29017, Portland, OR 97296. Guestbook can be found online at www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com.
