Oct. 17 — The Klickitat/Skamania League of Women Voters has canceled the Klickitat County Sheriff Candidates’ Forum (virtual, via zoom) scheduled for today, Monday, Oct. 17.
Below are the full preliminary results out of Klickitat County, as of 8:17 p.m., Aug 2. Out of 16,045 voters, 4,264 ballots have been counted, with an estimated 1,412 ballots left to count. Ballot counting resumes Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Bob Songer, the self-ascribed “constitutional” law enforcement official who has held the office of Sheriff of Klickitat County since 2014, will not run for a third term as sheriff in the November election.

The Lyle School District Board of Directors is seeking a district resident to fill an at-large position on the board, which was vacated by Lisa Bren on July 28. The appointee will serve through the next general election in 2023, and may file for election to the position.
Washington voters have recently received ballots to submit for the Aug. 3 primary election. The primary election will decide the top-two candidates to continue on to the Nov. 2 general election. Washington State conducts elections primarily through mail-in ballots; an Accesible Voting Unit is available at the Klickitat County Auditor’s Office in Goldendale. The deadline for ballots to be sent to voters was July 16 — if you have not received your ballot, contact the Klickitat County Auditor’s Office.
The final list of candidates competing for office in Klickitat County’s Aug. 3 primary has been released.
