Columbia High overpowered two more softball opponents this past week, averaging 22 runs scored in three games and improved its record to 6-0.

The Bruins swept a doubleheader March 25 at Fort Vancouver, 30-2 and 17-7. Columbia defeated Stevenson, 19-0, March 22 in White Salmon as the Bruins collected 20 hits.

Hood River Valley saw a familiar foe and a couple of new ones this past week in a spring break baseball tournament at Nelson High in Clackamas, where the Eagles continued to prepare for their final season in the Intermountain Conference.

A 14-0 goal advantage in their past two matches has the Columbia High boys soccer team seemingly ready for the heart of league play this week.

Columbia (3-1-1) beat Stevenson 9-0 March 21 and the Bruins topped Toledo 5-0 on March 25. Columbia is scheduled to continue league play 6 p.m. Thursday at King’s Way.

The level of competition will be different this week when Hood River Valley and The Dalles resume their track and field seasons after a week off for spring break, but the goal will be the same as athletes from both schools continue to work themselves into competitive shape.
