Her studio, Machi Yoga, is named after the indigenous healers of her native Chile. She welcomes students of every level who desire a safe, sweet space to practice. (Photo by Helen H. Alejandra Retamales has been in motion her whole life. She was raised in Chile, became a mother at just 17 years old, finished high school with a baby, earned a degree in agricultural engineering, moved to France with her young family, and eventually helped launch the California branch of a French agricultural grapevine nursery company.

"I was a mom at 17," she says. "From there it was just go, go, go."
