The Dufur High Rangers boys and girls golf teams competed in their final regular-season event April 29, the Nixyaawii Invitational at the Wildhorse Resort Golf Course in Pendleton. Junior Tora Timinsky remained undefeated, as she won her seventh girls tournament this year.

Hood River snowboarder Anders Chapman had a long wait sitting atop the freeski run in zero-degree weather. He had his rock music in, which calmed him down somewhat, but he couldn’t get over how tired he was. It was early May at Colorado’s Copper Mountain and a national title was at stake.

Chapman said he felt relaxed, but “at that point, you’re just trying to stay warm - stay focused. It was weird because I was just really tired from the day, and the day before.”

Columbia High’s softball team’s regular season is coming to a close this week, with the Bruins sitting at second place in the Trico League.

Next up will be what the Bruins hope is a long run in the district playoffs — and beyond. Columbia is 14-2 overall and currently the No. 2 seed in the Trico League.
