In round two of the Class 5A boys basketball Gorge rivalry between The Dalles High Riverhawks and the Hood River Valley High Eagles, it was another thrilling matchup like the previous meeting a week earlier (a 65-62 Riverhawk win). This time it was the Eagles who came out on top, 82-76, over the Hawks, Feb. 11, at Hood River Valley High School.

The Dalles High Riverhawks girls basketball team was undoubtedly inspired by a pregame Senior Night ceremony prior to a Class 5A Intermountain Conference Gorge rivalry match-up against the Hood River Valley High Eagles. It was that kind of momentum that helped the Riverhawks pull out a, 51-45, win over the Eagles Feb. 11 in their final home game of the season.

Columbia freshman Sawyer Muehlbauer qualified for the WIAA Class 1A state wrestling tournament with a sixth-place finish Saturday at regionals.
Muehlbauer, wrestling at 170 pounds, will wrestle Colville senior Robby Collier in Friday’s first round at state in the Tacoma Dome.

The Dalles High Riverhawks and the Hood River Valley High Eagles competed in the Class 5A Intermountain Conference District swim meet Saturday in Hood River and both squads enjoyed success, with numerous swimmers qualifying for the OSAA state meet Feb. 18 at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton.
