Team Dey, a US Tennis Association 40+ team that plays for Hood River Sports Club, will be heading to the USTA Nationals tournament in Tucson, Ariz., after taking first place in the Pacific Northwest Sectional Championship Aug. 30 in Spokane, Wash. The team is playing at the 3.5 level of competition, falling in the middle of the USTA’s 2.5 (beginner) to 4.5 scale (advanced). At the PNW Sectionals (Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Northern Idaho), Team Dey advanced through a round-robin format, competing against five other teams, then advanced to the finals and beat out four other teams to claim the overall win. The team also won the PNW Sectionals last year, but at the 3.0 level. Nationals will be held Oct. 23-25.
