THE GORGE - The Hood River Valley High Eagles (5-4) enjoyed a successful conclusion to their OSAA Class 5A nonleague boys soccer schedule by winning two straight games recently.
The Eagles won 2-0 at home over the Woodburn High Bulldogs on Sept. 24 to snap a two-game losing streak. (It marked the third shutout win of the season for HRV.) The No. 8-ranked Eagles then faced a very tough opponent Sept. 29 at No. 4-ranked Canby (3-5). In a matchup between the two 2025 state playoff squads, the Eagles won 4-3, marking their first win over a top-10 ranked team this season.
The Eagles begin their six-game Northwest Oregon Conference schedule Oct 7 with a 7 p.m. home game against the No. 6-ranked Parkrose High Broncos (4-4-1) of Portland. HRV finished third a year ago in the NWOC standings with a 5-2-1 record (7-7-2 overall) and advanced to the 5A state playoffs for a third straight year in 2025.
The Dalles tops Molalla
The ninth-ranked The Dalles boys soccer team (4A) shut out visiting Molalla, 5-0, on Oct. 1 to even its Tri-Valley Conference record at 1-1. The Riverhawks lost their league opener Sept. 29, 2-1, at league leading Madras (6-2, 3-0 TVC). The Dalles (6-2, 2-1) closes the first half of its league season Oct. 7 at home against North Marion.
Trout Lake seeks league win
The Trout Lake/Horizon Christian 2A/1A boys soccer team lost its first two Special District 1 matches – both at home – 4-1 to North Clackamas Christian, and 7-1 to top-ranked Grand View Christian.
