Fourteen HRV Nordic team skiers competed in the team’s first race of the season on Jan. 7 at Teacup Nordic Snow Park in the Mt. Hood National Forest.
The 11-member The Dalles High Riverhawks boys and girls swim teams competed in two meets last week, recording nine top-five finishes in one and 14 in another.
At the seven-team Madras Invitational meet Jan. 3, The Dalles senior Lydia DiGennaro highlighted the meet for the girls squad by winning the 50-yard freestyle in 26.11 seconds. DiGennaro also recorded a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.63.
The Dalles High Riverhawk wrestling team competed in the 19-team Don York Invitational Tournament Jan. 6-7 at Cleveland High School in Portland and sophomore Julian Moorehouse led the way with a fourth-place finish at 170 pounds.
The Columbia High Bruins opened their 10-game WIAA Class 1A Trico League schedule with four straight wins, but host Seton Catholic put a stop to the streak with a, 72-51, victory Jan. 4 in Vancouver.
