Takedowns were the focus of a low-key, season-opening wrestling tourney at Goldendale High School last week.
Bruin Coach Mike Muehlbauer said the Dec. 1 event was designed to give experienced wrestlers a chance to mix it up against wrestlers from other schools, and inexperienced wrestlers a chance to experience an actual high school match for the first time. Well, at least some of a match.

Hood River Valley was 16th and The Dalles 19th — out of 26 scoring teams — at last weekend’s Tyrone Woods wrestling tournament at Oregon City High School.

The Dufur High Rangers had an impressive start to their Class 1A girls basketball season with a 51-25 home win over the Powder Valley High Badgers Dec. 4 at Dufur High School. The Rangers, guided by Coach Nathan Morris, led from start-to-finish in the non-league contest against the Badgers (0-2).
