DIXIE CECELIA DOESCHOT
Dixie C. Doeschot died surrounded by family on Jan, 19, 2009, at her home in Newark, Calif. She was born on July 24, 1938, in Hood, the sixth eldest of 12 children born to Omer John Ohnemus and Margaret Gladys (Mills) Ohnemus.
Mrs. Doeschot grew up in Hood and White Salmon. She attended local schools and graduated in 1956 from Columbia High School. After graduation she lived and worked in Seattle and briefly attended college until she relocated to San Francisco.
In 1961, she met and married Navy officer Kenneth "Gene" Doeschot and they had five sons. As a Navy family, there were moves to many stations including San Diego, Taiwan, Seattle, Hawaii and finally Moffett Field in Mountain View, Calif. The family settled in Newark, Calif.
Mrs. Doeschot was a homemaker for many years until she re-entered the workforce as an office manager until retirement in 2000. She enjoyed many activities. She was an avid reader; she enjoyed planning and tending her garden and watching the many birds her wildflowers attracted, she loved taking day trips, spending time with her boys and most recently reuniting with old friends from high school. During her retirement she became a member of the Fremont Senior Center and attended classes and took trips with new friends. A talented artist, she worked in ceramics, oils, water colors, sewing and clothing design. In later years she favored her water colors.

She is survived, loved, and will be remembered fondly by her five sons Peter Doeschot, Fremont, Calif., Michael Doeschot, Andrew Doeschot, James Doeschot, and Matthew Doeschot all of Newark, Calif.; granddaughters Cecelia Margaret Doeschot, Fremont, Calif., Natalie Campanile, Essington, Pa.; sisters Diana Young, Renton, Dolores Maxwell, Seattle; brothers David, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Douglas, Carson, Daniel, Southerlin, Ore., Donald, Virginia Beach, Va, Duane, Cooper Landing, Ark., Dixon, White Salmon, and Doyle of Soldotna, Ark; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service is planned for the spring of 2009 in White Salmon.
