THE DALLES — Embrace the thrill and chill of winter at the Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival. Admission is free; donations support the Discovery Center’s Snow School.

The Snow School takes local 5th grade students snowshoeing on Mt. Hood for hands-on learning about winter animal adaptations, snow science and intricacies of the winter ecosystem. Each $500 funds one classroom.
