Hood River Valley Guidance and ASPIRE present Class of 2015 College Information Night for students and parents of HRV juniors, Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m in the Bowe Theater. The presentation will be available in English and Spanish. Highlights include “Using Naviance as Your College Search Tool”; AdmissionsTesting” and “The Costs of College.”

Hood River Supply held its 64th annual meeting Feb. 4 at the Pine Grove Grange. The meeting was called to order by board chairman John Wells.
Auditor David Enquist of Clifton Larson Allen from Pasco, Wash., reported on the past year’s audited financial results for the fiscal year.
Enquist reported the company increased sales over the previous year and with an increase in expenses due to the new retail facility in Hood River.
He also reported that HR Supply has maintained a strong balance sheet considering the addition of the new retail. HR Supply’s ability to build a new building is very positive considering the current economic conditions, Enquist said.
Wells reported to the members about this past year’s accomplishment including the completion of the new retail store and the upgrade of the cardlock station. He also reported about the community involvement of HR Supply with the continued support of the 4-H and FFA programs in the Gorge through the fair auctions.
The company again contributed both to FISH and The Next Door combined with matching funds from the Land O’ Lakes Foundation for a total of $1,000 to each organization.
Wells also mentioned that HR Supply donated the majority of the shelving from the old store to FISH for its new building.
Wells also mentioned the recent award received by the company the 2013 Chamber Business of the Year and the 2013 Pinnacle Award from ACE Hardware which was one of only 63 given last year.
President/CEO Pat McAllister gave an overview of this past year’s accomplishments, focusing mainly on the company’s past history and its continued growth and financial strength of the company.
McAllister outlined what the major goals for HR Supply are this next year since it completed the expansion of its facilities last year.
McAllister also reported on the amount of patronage HR Supply was distributing to their members.
This year the cooperative will be returning more than $40,000 in patronage to its members; this brings the total amount returned to members in cash and stock over the last five years in excess of $1 million.
The patronage returned to members this year was only 1.02 percent of purchases, the lowest total since 1999. The reduction was a direct result of one-time expenditures directly related to the construction of the new store in Hood River.
An election of directors was also held, resulting in the re-election of three directors, each to three-year terms. The re-elected were John Wells, Brian Nakamura and Rod Laurance.
ACE gift cards were given as door prizes. Two $25 gift cards were won by Jason Sandahl and Jon Laraway, two $50 gift cards were won by Phil Howell and David Paasch and the two $100 gift cards were won by Shirley Hedges and Randy Franz.
In addition, members and guests received a discount coupon for $10 off their next purchase over $30 at either the Hood River or Odell stores. Members and employees enjoyed hors d’oeuvre and cake prior and following the meeting.
