The Dalles Community Affairs meeting, June 11 — Cyndi Gentry and Jennifer Sulcer from Northern Wasco County People’s Utility District (PUD) presented on the PUD’s operations and growth. The PUD, serving 10,000 customers, has doubled its staff and revenue in 10 years, largely due to data centers. The PUD’s rates are among the lowest in Oregon, with 69% of power from non-federal sources and 4% from their own generation. They discussed the impact of the Lower Snake River dam litigation on power costs and their efforts to stay engaged with legislators. The PUD is also looking for 18-20 acres for new facilities.
