STEVENSON — Skamania Lodge has named Matthew Howard the property’s new executive chef. Howard joins Skamania Lodge with more than 20 years of culinary experience that includes roles at Screen Door, Raven & Rose, New Seasons Market and the Heathman Hotel in Portland.
As executive chef, Howard will oversee all culinary operations at Skamania Lodge, including the Cascade Dining Room, River Rock Lounge, and the resort’s expanding lineup of culinary events, weddings, conferences, and seasonal experiences.
Howard has a love for Pacific Northwest ingredients and will infuse a creative energy into the iconic mountain lodge. A collaborative leader, he brings deep expertise in creating and cultivating a shared culinary vision that highlights the skills and passions of everyone in his kitchen.
“I’m passionate about creating a kitchen team that is cohesive and proud of their surroundings and culinary performances,” said Howard. “Skamania Lodge is one of the most beautiful places to work and I want our guests to experience this iconic lodge and the natural setting through the region’s celebrated ingredients, from the camas bulb to huckleberries.
