Rep. Jeff Helfrich (R-Hood River) issued the following statement on his election to Oregon Senate District 26:
"I am incredibly honored to have received the support of the good people of Senate District 26. Tuesday’s results showed that from The Dalles to Estacada, from Corbett and Canby all the way to Rhododendron and Welches, people want a pragmatic and results-oriented approach. For years, I have said this state needs to get back to basics; we need to focus on the real problems facing everyday Oregonians and stop the partisan posturing that focuses only on ideological pet projects. In this election, Senate District 26 agreed. Serving as Representative for House District 52 for six years has been a privilege. In my time in the House, I was able to secure millions of dollars of investment for the district while working hard to recriminalize drugs and make our streets safer. I pride myself on advancing common-sense solutions to bring together legislators on both sides of the aisle. I will use these next four years to continue the work I started in the House. I am dedicated to making Oregon a place our kids want to stay and raise a family. A place where they see a future for themselves. I cannot thank my family enough for the support and the inspiration they provide everyday to go out and keep fighting for a better Oregon. It is my honor to be elected to the Senate, and a privilege to get to serve.”
