WHITE SALMON — Skyline Health Foundation has awarded $14,000 in scholarships to students pursuing careers in nursing and healthcare. This year, the Foundation awarded four Brown Nursing Scholarships totaling $10,000 and four Henkle Healthcare Career Scholarships totaling $4,000, helping support the next generation of healthcare professionals.
The Skyline Health Foundation's scholarship program reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare in the Columbia River Gorge by investing in students who are dedicated to serving their communities through careers in healthcare.
The Brown Nursing Scholarship was established to honor the Brown family's commitment to healthcare and education. The scholarship supports students pursuing nursing careers and recognizes the vital role nurses play in providing compassionate, high-quality patient care. Through this scholarship, the Foundation seeks to encourage and support future nurses as they advance their education and professional goals.
The Henkle Healthcare Career Scholarship honors the legacy of the Henkle family and their dedication to community well-being. The scholarship supports students pursuing a variety of healthcare-related careers, helping address workforce needs and encouraging local students to enter healthcare professions that strengthen access to care throughout the region.
"One of the most meaningful investments we can make is in the people who will care for our communities in the future," said Elizabeth Vaivoda, Executive Director of the Skyline Health Foundation. "These students represent the next generation of healthcare professionals, and we are honored to support their educational journeys. We hope these scholarships not only ease the financial burden of pursuing a healthcare career but also inspire recipients to continue making a difference in the lives of others."
The Skyline Health Foundation's mission is to inspire generosity and invest in programs, services, equipment, and people that enhance healthcare and improve the quality of life throughout the Columbia Gorge. In addition to scholarship support, the Foundation provides funding for healthcare equipment, patient and community programs, employee education, and initiatives that strengthen the health and well-being of local residents.
"Our communities depend on dedicated healthcare professionals," Vaivoda added. "By supporting students today, we are helping build a stronger, healthier future for tomorrow."
Skyline Health Foundation congratulates this year's scholarship recipients and wishes them continued success in their educational and professional endeavors.
