Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Aaron Alejandro Paz,46, of Hood River / White Salmon passed away July 16, 2026, doing what he loved most — windsurfing in the Columbia River.
Aaron grew up in Portland, Oregon, and went to college in Montana both for the snowboarding and a degree in landscape architecture. He moved to Hood River shortly after college. The Gorge was his home and playground.
Aaron was proud of the successful landscape business he created (Paz Landscapes). He had great clients, worked with amazing architects, and had the best employees, all of whom helped make his dreams possible.
Aaron’s greatest passion was windsurfing. He was an accomplished sailor and was always ready to encourage or share the enthusiasm and exhilaration. Some of his other pastimes included snowboarding, snow biking, dirt biking, target shooting, crabbing on the Oregon coast, and lately one-wheeling — anything that moved, put wind in his face, and adrenaline in his veins. He also liked to travel in the winter to warm water spots to surf, windsurf or fish. Aaron loved a good meal, especially if he did not have to cook.
Mostly Aaron will always be remembered for his great smile and infectious laugh. He never met a stranger. He started each day with the goal of making someone else’s day better. Spending time with family and friends was his ultimate joy and we will all miss his love and life force.
A celebration of life and potluck will be held Aug. 8 at the Underwood Community Center, starting at 5 p.m.
