HRVST Osprey see lots of success in opening summer meets

The Hood River Valley Swim Team Osprey have started off their summer season with a bang.

Eight senior swimmers competed at the Bend Swim Club A/B LC Invite at the Juniper Aquatic Center in Bend May 6-7. Thea Smith and Skyla Hollowell each swam six events and had six personal best times to lead off the team. Smith, 12, had a big eight-second drop in the 200-meter individual medley (IM) with a time of 3 minutes, 14.35 seconds, for a seventh-place finish. Her other top 10 finish was seventh in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:44.43. Hollowell, 11, placed in the top 10 in all six of her events: third in the 200 IM (2:59.80), third in the 200 backstroke (3:02.53), seventh in the 50 butterfly (37.94), fourth in the 200 free (2:40.62), third in the 100 butterfly (1:27.28), and fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:36.61).
