For many years, I trusted our congressman, Greg Walden. Even though I’ve always been a Democrat, I voted for him. I never was a strongly partisan voter. Rather, I voted for the candidate I trusted to do the best job for all of us, and Mr. Walden delivered.
I can’t say it took just “seconds” for Mr. Walden to break my trust, but over the past few years, during which he voted ENTIRELY along party lines (even though many of his constituents crossed their party lines to vote for him), my trust in him was broken, and it cannot be repaired.
His voting record now reflects extreme partisanship, siding with, at best, an inept president, and at worst, a corrupt one.
To my fellow residents of Congressional District 2, particularly my Republican friends and neighbors ... I voted for your guy for many years, when he was doing his job for all of us. I urge you now to consider your vote carefully and honestly.
Maybe it’s your turn to cross the party line and vote for my candidate, Jamie McLeod-Skinner, who sincerely wants to work for all of us, no matter what party we belong to, someone we can trust to act in our best interests.
Please join me in supporting Jamie McLeod-Skinner for Congress. She’s smart. She listens. She’s independent minded, fiscally responsible, and is completely committed to ethical government.
She hasn’t accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from out-of-state corporate donors, so she won’t owe them her vote.
Instead, she’ll be voting for the ordinary people who are supporting her, thousands of them, right here in Eastern Oregon, who are volunteering their time and making small donations in the hopes that we can elect a true representative for the people of Congressional District 2.
