KLICKITAT CO. — Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer thanked Klickitat County Search and Rescue (KCSAR) volunteers at the annual appreciation ceremony, held March 11.
Undersheriff Carmen Knopes and SAR Coordinator Jeff King thanked volunteers for their commitment and dedication to county residents and visitors. County Commissioners Ron Ihrig and Todd Andrews also attended.
In 2024, KCSAR volunteers donated a total of 8,099 hours, including 527 hours on 13 missions and 6,758 training hours, while logging 11,940 personal vehicle miles, said a press release. Songer has pledged continued support for the program.
Fourteen new members were recognized with commemorative SAR pins; program coordinator Jeff King additionally recognized the three certified K9 search dogs and their handlers, Jim Jones and Molly Sullivan, for the hundreds of extra hours of training to achieve and maintain certification, said the press release.
Rachel Anderson, Brain Hackett, Jones, Ellie Jones (K9), Frank Norwood, Angie Pacleb, Jay Stagnone, and Brandon Tattersall were recognized for five years of volunteer service and Tom Cochrane for 10. Rookie of the Year went to Josh Adams, and Volunteer of the Year to Jeff Adams.
