Mt. Adams roundabout update presented at Historic Columbia River Highway Advisory Committee meeting

HOOD RIVER — Drivers attempting to turn west from Wine Country Road in Hood River onto Cascade Avenue (which is part of the historic highway route) know the challenge during heavy traffic. The intersection is considered “failing” by city planners. Increasing northbound capacity is the top infrastructure priority for Hood River’s Westside Urban Renewal District.

Will Norris, Hood River’s urban renewal manager, described plans for a proposed “Mt. Adams Roundabout” at this three-way intersection, which is controlled by a single stop sign for northbound drivers.
