HOOD RIVER — “The dogs depend on us,” said Michele Thomson, a volunteer and board member with HRAAD. Hood River Adopt-A-Dog (HRAAD) is the only animal shelter serving Hood River and White Salmon and has been providing care and adoption services for almost 20 years. HRAAD keeps dogs current on vaccinations, makes sure they’re all spayed and neutered, and provides micro-chips.

WASCO CO. — A big charcoal pompom of a doodle is reviving the Wasco County therapy dog program, in partnership with Kimberly Hulke, Wasco County parole and probation officer and a member of the Mid-Columbia Interagency Peer Support Team.

THE DALLES – On June 8, Dog River Pet Supplies, located in Hood River, closed up shop to volunteer at the Columbia Gorge Humane Society, and put a fresh coat of paint to the shelter’s exterior.
