THE DALLES — The sky is falling! There’s a “method acting” Princess with attitude. And a bumbling Giant who speaks in “CAPITAL LETTERS” and spouts “poetry.”
What’s not to love? Performances Friday Aug. 2 and Saturday Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. and Sunday Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Sawyer Hall Theater, Zion Lutheran Church, corner of Tenth and Union streets. Admission free, donations accepted.
Serious Theater presents “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales” by John Glore, based on the book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. If you remember the Fractured Fairy Tales on the “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends” TV show (check it out on YouTube), you get the idea. These are fairy tales with a twist — suitable for older kids and adults of all ages.
A colorful whimsical set highlights this live cartoon presentation. Actors Susan Vallie, Ken Matley, and Kelly Brown feature multiple character roles, with supporting actresses Sharon Hull and Rita Loughmiller. Artistic Director Garry Estep plays the harried narrator.
This production is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. (www.playscripts.com), and is supported by the Oregon Community Foundation. Serious Theater is an all-volunteer independent nonprofit organization.
