Kidnapping — State troopers from Salem and Portland sought a potential kidnapping suspect on I-84 Sept. 8. The suspect vehicle, allegedly attempting to cross state lines, escaped, was relocated, tried to escape again, and got its tires spiked near milepost 69 eastbound.
The child in question was brought to safety and the suspect arrested on custodial interference, attempt to elude and reckless driving charges, and a warrant.
Fish and wildlife — Two anglers were caught fishing for salmon during a closed season Sept. 17. The Salvation Army food pantry got a freshly confiscated salmon and the anglers got a warning.
Driver arrested — State troopers arrested a driver on I-84 for two counts of menacing, two counts unlawful use of weapon, four counts recklessly endangering another, and reckless driving charges. The 44-year-old driver of a semi-truck was reported near milepost 42 eastbound.
Fight — A person started a fight with the troopers who tried to trespass him from Adventist Health in The Dalles, allegedly in an attempt to get back in. He was arrested on criminal trespass and disorderly conduct charges on Sept. 11.
