The Sept. 9 Hood River County School board meeting included a lively presentation by Hood River Valley High School (HRVHS) students Isabel Ulland and Sofia Mosqueda, two members of HRVHS’ new solar car team that took third in the nation in a road race held in Texas this summer (see Sean Avery’s previous coverage at columbiagorgenews.com). The presentation included both colorful anecdotes and a slideshow. Also pictured are solar car team coach Justin Ulland and Superintendent Bill Newton.

HOOD RIVER — After August’s virtual meetings, with personnel reports the only item on the agenda, Hood River County School District (HRCSD) board members met in person at the Nathaniel Coe Administration Center on Sept. 9 (see related story).

Superintendent Bill Newton began by recognizing the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and thanking first responders, including local police, fire and emergency services “who keep our schools safe, and reaffirm our district’s commitment to building a unified, compassionate community.”
