The Dalles city-wide catch basin cleaning — The Dalles Public Works crews will be cleaning stormwater catch basins throughout the city through Oct. 2. Work began Sept. 8. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Temporary traffic controls may be put in place during work on any given catch basin. “We ask that you park so that the catch basins are accessible during these hours,” said a press release. ODOT debris removal — Work began Sept. 9 to clear debris from the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail east of the Eagle Creek Fish Hatchery. The trail between Eagle Creek and Cascade Locks has been impassable since mid-December 2025 due to heavy rain and the subsequent Ruckel Creek landslide.
Once the debris has been cleared by this fall, the U.S. Forest Service will evaluate the trail and adjacent slope stability for safety. Further updated information can be found on the Forest Service page. Full report at columbiagorgeews.com.
Klickitat County Planning Commission — will hold a public hearing during a special meeting, beginning at 6 p.m. on Sept. 28, on proposed reductions to the county’s Energy Overlay Zone for solar projects. Those interested can attend the meeting virtually or in person at 115 Court St., Room 200, in Goldendale.
