This week Adopt A Dog has selected Ricky as the adoptable pet of the week.
Ricky is about nine months old, 50 pounds, and we think Red Heeler mix. He's a really nice dog — he just needs an outlet for his smarts and energy.
Ricky had to be surrendered by his owners because he figured out how to jump their four-foot fence. But give him a six-foot fence, and he's good! Ricky has some excellent leash skills, and loves long hikes, and might even be a good running partner. He's got some nice manners in the works, too. Ricky's never lived inside before, but he learned quickly what are things that can be climbed, and what cannot. Like desks. Didn't take long for Ricky to figure out desks were on the "do not climb" list!
Ricky is a great example of the Heeler mix dog — loyal, hard working, energetic and smart. So he needs a home that is looking for just that. And he's not even a year, so imagine the possibilities! Ricky is great with other dogs, loves people, and loves belly rubs. Because of Ricky's Heeler breed, we would like him to go to a home with Heeler experience, and prefer no small kids, and probably no cats. They're just too easy for the herding!
Ricky is current on shots, microchipped and will be neutered this week. The adoption fee for Ricky is $205, to recoup standard veterinary expenses. Please call ahead to meet Ricky in Odell at the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Drive, or call for more information at 541-354-1083.
