HOOD RIVER — Last Christmas, as many as 45 singers shared the joy of holiday music at 19 locations throughout the Columbia River Gorge, organized by Harmony of the Gorge Chorus. This year, they're getting ready to do it again — and there's room for you!
Remember the fun of singing Christmas carols? The familiar melodies, the laughter, the friendships, and the wonderful feeling of sharing a little Christmas cheer?
For the second year, Christmas Carolers of the Gorge are inviting men and women from communities throughout the Gorge to come together, enjoy singing favorite Christmas songs, and share that music with others.
And here's the best part: You don't have to be an experienced singer. You just have to enjoy singing! Whether you've sung in a chorus for years, haven't sung since school, or simply love singing along with Christmas music, you're welcome.
There's a place for your voice!
Rehearsals begin Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., and continue every Tuesday through November 24 at Hood River Alliance Church, located at the corner of Rand Road and Montello in Hood River. After Thanksgiving, the carolers will take their music into communities throughout the Gorge, sharing familiar Christmas favorites at gatherings and celebrations until about Dec. 18.
And don't worry if your holiday calendar is already filling up! Singers are welcome to participate in the caroling outings that fit their schedules. There's no expectation that everyone attend every performance.
Christmas caroling is about much more than singing the right notes. It's about neighbors coming together, friendships growing, and the simple joy of sharing music that has been part of our lives for generations. So whether you live in Hood River, The Dalles, White Salmon, Stevenson, or anywhere in between, we'd love to have you join us.
Come celebrate caroling in the Gorge. Bring your voice, bring a friend, and help us spread a little Christmas joy!
