Feeling Blue

 The Dalles photographer Gary Elkinton caught this Great Blue Heron splashing around in Taylor Lake last week like a little kid. “Actually,” Elkinton said, “he was using an intimidation tactic to scare another heron away from his fishing spot. When all else fails, bark like a dog and fly towards your adversary.” Perhaps our heron friend should check out the next Braver Angels Columbia Gorge Alliance meeting on Nov. 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. at UCC Congregational Church, 111 E. Fifth Street, The Dalles. The group brings liberals and conservatives together for monthly conversations.
