THE GORGE - The Dufur High Rangers continue to enjoy success in OSAA Class 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 6 girls golf.
The Rangers were led by senior Tygh Timinsky, who won her sixth tournament this season April 20 at Astoria. Timinsky then notched her seventh individual tourney win April 24 in the seven-team McLoughlin High Invitational in Milton-Freewater. Timinsky shot a season-best score of 65 to earn the first-place medalist award.
The Rangers had a team score of 360 to finish second behind Heppner at 341. The Ranger quartet of seniors Kaylee Wiles (93), Makaila Collins (96) and junior Piper Murders (106) combined to help lead the Rangers to the second-place finish. Wiles finished seventh individually and Collins took 10th place out of a 20-player field. The Rangers will compete in their next event Thursday at Buffalo Peak Golf Course in Madras.
The Dalles
The Dalles High Riverhawks girls golf team took third place in a tournament April 23 at Wildwood Golf Course in Portland. The Riverhawks were led by Rozlyn Elliot (122) and Hailey Cain (125). The Riverhawks will play in their next event on May 5 at Goldendale.
Hood River Valley
The Hood River Valley High Eagles boys and girls golf teams competed in an OSAA Class 5A Northwest Oregon Conference tourney last week and they had some solid individual scores by their top players.
HRV sophomore Aksel Betz led the Eagle boys squad with a score of 84 to finish eighth overall individually out of 32 golfers in an NWOC tourney April 20 at Langdon Farms Golf Course in Aurora. The Eagle trio of sophomores Wyatt Bahn (85), Ren Sandahl (89), and junior Max Kellner (85) rounded out the top four scorers. HRV senior Josh McLaughlin shot a non-counting score of 91.
The Eagle girls golf team competed in the six-team NWOC event on April 21 at Stone Creek Golf Course in Oregon City. The Eagles took fourth place in team scoring at 503. Junior Rayla Yasui led the Eagle quartet of golfers with her score of 108. Yasui was followed by teammates Bella Howe (118), freshman Sadee Mason (137), and junior Keira Brennan (140). Junior Kailee Klindt shot a non-counting score of 142 for HRV.
The Eagles boys and girls teams will compete in their next NWOC tournament Monday at 10 a.m. at Indian Creek Golf Course in Hood River.
