THE DALLES — The Dalles Overground (TDO) and the Performing Arts Initiative have announced a new three-day community music festival, The Hoot, celebrating arts and local culture in the heart of downtown from March 6-8.
Founded in 2024, TDO is an all-volunteer nonprofit whose mission is to bring original arts and culture to The Dalles and facilitate, promote, and encourage community, diversity, and inclusiveness through artistic platforms.
Designed for all ages and offered free to the public, The Hoot gathers critically acclaimed artists, emerging regional talents, and local youth performers across intimate venues within easy walking distance, including the historic Granada Theatre, Herbring House, River City Saloon, and Wines On Second.
Spanning genres from country, punk, and Americana to rock, pop, Latin, folk, and dance, the festival offers a thoughtfully curated, multi-genre experience for every music fan. This year’s lineup includes nationally recognized artists, The Vandoliers, Robert Francis, Margo Cilker, 1876, Laura Gibson, and Darci Carlson, alongside standout regional acts and local musicians (such as Trayecto Efectivo), and late-night DJs.
Beyond the stages, festival-goers can enjoy “Coffee with the Songwriters” on Saturday and Sunday mornings, a community fun run, “Beer & Yoga,” and an array of arts, cultural activities, and small-business promotions that spotlight The Dalles’ vibrant creative spirit.
“This festival is about bringing original and unique nationally known musical acts to The Dalles, highlighting rising local and regional musicians, and celebrating our community through a variety of art, cultural, and community events,” said Rian Beach, the festival co-director and the co-founder of the Jackalope Jamboree music festival in Pendleton, Oregon.
The Hoot is made possible with support from Columbia Gorge Recovery Services & Notary LLC, Premium Property Management of The Gorge, and Jackalope Jamboree.
