The Wahtonka Eagles are the 1995 Class 2A baseball champions. The members and coaches are: Coach Rory O’Halloran & Terry Way, Josh Ice, Jay Jones, Davy Morris, Dannie Harmon, Robbie McCraw, Sam Evans, Aaron Henr, Daniel Garcia, Edgar Vasquez, Justin Schneidt, Aaron Foster, Bob Phipps, Tim Kelly and Ryan Montgomery.
The Montana millionaire who owns the property formerly known as Ranch Rajneese might donate the compound to Oregon if the state comes up with an acceptable plan for its use. State officials in the last month have toured the 64,229 acre parcel, now known as Big Muddy, to consider its possibilities. “You go out there and look at it and think, this would be a great place for ----- what?” said Bill Nickleberry, lands manager for the state Department of Administrative Service.

A new restroom facility at Sorosis Park goes into use Sunday and will remain open daily until 9:30 p.m. This makes two public restrooms at the park. The older unit will be kept open 24 hours daily, Recreation and Parks Director Tom Ward said. Ward made final inspection of the new restrooms Thursday.
The Dalles may soon have downtown parking area for bicycles. A request for them came May 13 from bicycle dealer Chuck Langley who offered to provide a bicycle parking rack on the street in front of his store, Life Cycles, at 406 E Second Street, just east of the intersection of Federal Street.
60 Years Ago-1955
Two break-ins during the weekend in which substantial amounts of property were stolen were under investigation today by Dalles police and the Wasco County Sheriff’s office. The new Chenowith School now under construction was entered into during the weekend and a variety of tools and equipment were reported missing. Broken into again was the Hoot Owl café at 704 E. Second Street with entry made by smashing a rear window.
Dalles police today were investigating the latest attack of vandalism in which paint was splashed on the walls of a new house under construction at 917 W 11th Street. One room of the house will have to be repainted.
80 Years Ago-1935
Fifteen Wasco County 4-H club members will attend the 4-H club summer school at Oregon State College June 10 to 22, according to a list released today by W. Wray Lawrence, county agricultural agent. Virtually all will be attending as the result of scholarships won for excellence in various divisions of club work.
Rodeo events at the annual Farmer’s Union picnic tomorrow will include bucking contests, musical chair rides for both men and women, and a wild goat roping contest, as well as other thrills, committee members said today. In the roping contests a number of wild goats will be turned loose on the field, with prizes for the first to “get their goat.” There will be foot races for men, women and children, with cash prizes to be distributed, and a baseball game between farmers and “city fellers.”
100 Years Ago-1915
A hurry-up wedding, at which a bystander and a bartender at Hotel Dalles were witnesses, was performed Saturday afternoon by Justice of the Peace Holmes K. Ehrsam. The participants in the wedding were Alexander G. Ingram of Clatsop County and Miss Mayme McKinnon of Wasco County. The excited groom-to-be telephoned Justice Ehrsam at 3:55 Saturday afternoon, informing the official that he wanted to get married before the 4:05 train left for Portland. Mr. Ehrsam ran all the way from the court house to the Hotel Dalles. The newly-weds caught the 4:05 train.
The middleweight wrestling championship of the Pacific coast will be decided at the Vogt theatre this evening when Ted Thye and Carl Nelson of Chehalis will go on the mat. Both men claim the title. There is considerable betting on the match, the odds being on the local boy.
