Lifelong Glenwood resident Steve Hoodenpyl recently passed away peacefully at his home here, surrounded by his beloved wife Kay, their children and grandchildren. Many knew Steve from his many decades as the “H” in C & H Logging Company. Those who worked for Steve remember him fondly. He quietly gave to the people in this community in so many ways, not needing accolades or public acknowledgment.
When Glenn and I retired and moved back to our farm, Steve and Kay were the first to come visit us once we moved into our new home. They found a beautiful colored pencil “painting” of our farm in a gallery in another state years before and saved it to give to us. On the back they had written a heart-warming welcome home message. There were other kind gestures Steve extended to us over the years, because that was just Steve.
Steve’s family invite all who knew him to a memorial service on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. in the Glenwood School gym. Following the service there will be a gathering in the multipurpose room. Our deepest condolences go to Kay, his wife of 71 years, and all his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed here in our community.

Here’s another reminder to check out the very informative Ketchum Kalf Rodeo site at www.ketchumkalfrodeo.com to learn about all the latest updates, events, and entertainment for this year. This year is the 92nd annual rodeo here. It’s a great way to treat Dad on Father’s Day weekend.
