Sept. 1, 1944 - April 22, 2026
Carol Diane Marr was a resident of The Dalles, Oregon, and Rosemead, California. She was born in San Diego, California, where she graduated and married her high school sweetheart, Larry Marr.
Carol spent time in California as a bank teller and airline reservationist, but later, the family left California to move to Hailey, Idaho. They had two children, Chelsea and Jaime Marr.
She and her husband spent time skiing, biking, hiking and raising their children while they owned and managed a successful Mexican restaurant in town. The menu was curated with Carol’s original recipes she had inspired with her own mom. Carol was a gourmet cook who had successfully developed her skills through classes and catering experiences. Her love of cooking and good food spanned all styles and ethnicities.
Ready for a career change, Carol and her husband relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1987. She started her career in retail, where she excelled in men’s designer clothing. Her fluency in Spanish made her a favorite among customers visiting the Las Vegas shows and sporting events. It was after Carol’s retirement that the couple relocated to The Dalles to be closer to their two kids and grandchildren.
Sometime after she was widowed in 2014, she was reunited with a friend from high school in San Diego, California. The romantic relationship had Carol spending time in both Oregon and California.
Carol was a friend to all and had a magnetic smile. Her laughter filled a room. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including her grandkids. She had a passion for yoga that she developed over many years. In 2022, a highlight was when she and her daughter attended a yoga retreat in Baja, California. She was strong and continued to be physically active until her illness took a turn for the worst in the final 5 months.
Carol’s zest for life was admired by everyone who met her. She loved a good latte in the morning and an expensive glass of Chardonnay to top off a great day. She was always ready to go and had an eye for style for the latest fashions. One of her highlights was when she was a model on a billboard for the MCMC fitness center during her years in The Dalles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Delfina Marquez, grandson Kaleb Marr, daughter-in-law Lori Marr, her in-laws Lyle and Marguerite Marr. She is survived by her companion, Samuel Salazar (Los Angeles); her son, Jaime Marr (The Dalles); and daughter Chelsea Marr and Dan Stelma (Underwood, Washington.); granddaughter Dakota Wilkins and Greg Wilkins (North Bonneville, Washington); grandson Zachary Marr and Sierra Lavadour; great-granddaughter, Paisley Marr (Portland, Oregon); and grandson Wyatt Stelma (Underwood).
