HOOD RIVER — Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association is holding auditions for the musical “9 to 5,” written by Dolly Parton, on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 26 at 1p.m. at the Columbia Center for the Arts.
Callbacks, if needed, will be Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. There will be a cast of 16 adults over 18 plus one role for a boy 15-18 years of age.
Auditioners need to prepare a song no longer than three minutes and bring a backing track or sheet music that a provided accompanist can play. There will be a Bluetooth speaker available to play backing tracks. Auditioners will also be reading short scenes from the script.
There will be a short movement audition so wearing clothes to move in is advised. There are parts that feature dancing and parts that do not.
The show will begin rehearsals in mid-February for performances three weekends in May (including Memorial Day weekend). It is advised that auditioners bring their calendar and be ready to list schedule conflicts. Rehearsals will generally be Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
