The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce once again announces the hosting of Northwest Cherry Festival with events scattered throughout the month of April leading to the grand finale celebration on April 27.
The celebration, complete with cherry sweethearts, parades, open-air market, outdoor music stage, food, quilt show, dance and all the things that make up the celebration of life in rural America, traditionally attracts thousands to The Dalles, for a complete day of fun.
The morning begins with a tasty breakfast of pancakes and cherry syrup at The Mid-Columbia Senior Center served from 7 to 10 a.m. Pop over to the 5th Annual Cascade Square Car Show or bring the kids to the carnival located in the historic downtown district between 1st and Second Streets.
Strike up the band and begin the parade at 11 a.m. with sweethearts, King Bing and Queen Anne, hometown floats and more. Then take a stroll to 4h and Federal and take in The Civic Auditorium Quilt Show, the outdoor music stage featuring 'Retta & The Smart Fellas" and "No Depression", dine on festival food and shop with the artisans and crafts people lining the streets. And what about that remodeling project you've been intending to begin....The Home and Lifestyle Show at The Dalles Armory might have just the info you need.
Now you should have a good dinner, take a little nap, then put on your dancin' shoes for The 9th Annual Cherry Stomp Dance at the Civic Auditorium beginning at 8 p.m.
