Mt. Hood Meadows will offer a preview weekend this Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18-19, with lifts scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The ski area is scheduled to operate daily beginning Friday, Nov. 24, so the preview provides anxious passholders and mountain enthusiasts a few extra days to get some early season turns in.
Meadows reports a snow depth of 22 inches in the base area and 30 inches at mid-mountain, from early season snow storms that have dropped nearly three feet of snow so far in November. The forecast has more snow accumulating by the weekend, and the resort plans to operate at least two high speed quads — the Mt. Hood and Shooting Star express lifts — which will give experienced riders some early season advanced terrain. Buttercup, Easy Rider and the Ballroom Carpet are also scheduled to provide beginner to intermediate level terrain. A preview rail park is also planned for freestyle riding. Early season conditions exist, so those riding need to be aware of unmarked obstacles.
Resort operations include adult and children’s lessons, daycare, and ski and snowboard equipment rentals. Meadows will operate its Higher Grounds coffee and savories, Schuss quick serve and Alpenstube restaurants. Passholder services will be open by 8 a.m. for those needing to purchase or have their pass issued. Season passes, including unlimited, value, 10 time and five time passes, are valid these preview days.
The adult lift ticket price Saturday and Sunday is discounted to $64, but can be purchased online in advance for $59. Lift ticket prices will be $64 for adults, $34 for juniors age 7-14 and $10 for ages 6 and under. Seniors age 66-74 are $54, and age 75 and older are free.
A Golden Ticket will be given away in the preview weekend scavenger hunt on Saturday. It's a trivia contest centered around the historical happenings at Meadows to honor the 50th anniversary season.
Those who find all the answers will be entered in to a drawing for the Golden Ticket, which provides an entry into a drawing to win a 50-year season pass to Mt. Hood Meadows.
Mt. Hood Meadows events this weekend: Limited operations with lifts scheduled 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; Pray for Snow Dinner with leadership Saturday evening (seating limited); and Pray for Snow Party and Snow Dance to win a Golden Ticket Saturday night.
