HOOD RIVER — The Hood River Valley (HRV) boys soccer team takes a four-match win streak — the longest this season — into the 2025 OSAA Class 5A state playoffs.
Coach Alvaro Lara’s Eagles play a first-round match Nov. 5 at Silverton. HRV completed its regular season with a 1-0 win on Oct. 28 at Milwaukie. The victory moved the Eagles into third place in the final Northwest Oregon Conference standings with a 5-2-1 record (7-6-2 overall). The victory also secured HRV the ninth seed into the state playoffs.
Hood River last played Silverton in 2017, when HRV beat the Silver Foxes in the first round of the playoffs.
Silverton missed the state playoffs last season, but the Silver Foxes have qualified for the postseason four times since the 2017 season, most recently in 2023.
Silverton, seeded eighth in the playoffs, is 7-2-6 this season and 5-1-3 in the Mid-Willamette Conference. Silverton clinched its state playoff berth Oct. 30 by winning its final match of the regular season, 3-1, over Woodburn. The victory pushed Silverton into fourth place in the Mid-Willamette over the Bulldogs.
The HRV-Silverton winner advances to play a Nov. 8 quarterfinal matchup between the winner of top-ranked Summit and 16th seeded Canby. That match will be hosted by the highest remaining seeded team.
