GOLDENDALE — Klickitat County Health Department reported that vaccination rates in August 2026 were significantly lower than in 2024, with only 70 vaccinations administered, at the Sept. 15 county commissioners meeting. Public Health Director Erin Quinn described it as a statewide trend.
On the positive side, Quinn told commissioners that the county had been awarded approximately $128,000 for an opioid settlement fund management contract through SWATCH for fiscal year 2027, which start Oct. 1.
Public works update
Public Works Director Jeff Hunter reported that crews are working on the footings for the Cameron building project at the fairgrounds.
“Somebody will spend a day cutting,” he said. “There's 342-inch pieces of rebar that have to go in those footings.”
The department does most of the rebar bending, saving taxpayer dollars. Only the most complicated pieces that have to be farmed out.
Fee increase
A proposed legislative fee increase would raise birth and death certificate fees from $25 to $35, with the county receiving $1.50 of the $10 increase per issued certificate.
Consent agenda
And the lone item on the consent agenda was approval of pay estimate no. 3, $39,634.51 for bearing repair bundle CRP 378.
