Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Allen (Jake) Moore on Oct. 20, 2026, at the age of 49. Jake was born and raised in Hood River, Oregon, where he lived a life marked by integrity, compassion and deep devotion to his family.
Growing up, Jake was involved in Cub Scouts of America, 4-H, FFA and enjoyed high school football and rodeo. After graduating from Hood River Valley High School in 1995, he attended Central Wyoming College, but ultimately realized his calling was to work the family farm. Jake loved and embraced the challenges of the orchard and cultivated meaningful connections with his work family for 30 years.
In 2010, Jake married his high school sweetheart, Carrie Turner. They enjoyed traveling with family and friends, trying new foods, seeing new places, and making friends along the way.
Jake’s love of cooking and barbecuing quickly transformed him into a renowned chef amongst his family and friends. When word caught on that Jake was cooking, everyone showed up, and meals became a treasured time of bonding and reflection.
Another special pastime for Jake was his annual trip to Wyoming in October. This was an opportunity to celebrate the end of harvest, golf, hunt and catch up with relatives in the area.
Jake was predeceased by grandparents Robert (Bob) and Bette Thomsen and Allen and June Moore; father-in-law Don Flerchinger; cousins Tom Sieverkropp and Julie Dillingham; and nephew Wyatt Smith (and friend Matt Kellogg).
Jake is survived by his wife Carrie Moore; parents Bruce and Lynn Moore; his two brothers, Jason (Rayna) Moore and Justin (Erika) Moore; mother-in-law Carole Flerchinger and father-in-law David Turner; two sisters-in-law, DeAnn (Jim) Swisher and Susan (Todd) Anderson; nieces and nephews, Koen and Makayla Moore, Taylor and Bailey Trahan, Zoe and Lexie Swisher, Allie and Henry Anderson; and aunts and uncles Chuck (Kristi) Thomsen, Christy (Tom) Ewald, Lisa (Ramiro) Elisea, Patrick (Sue) Moore, and Beth (Matt) Peters.
Jake touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His generous spirit, compassion for others, and good humor will be remembered forever. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and joy that has had an incredible impact on us all.
Services to celebrate Jake’s life and mourn his passing will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 at River of Life Assembly, 979 Tucker Road, Hood River, and a time of continued sharing to follow at the Pine Grove Grange, 2835 Van Horn Drive, Hood River. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson’s Tribute Center, 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River. Visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
