TROUTDALE — Savina Davis, Syl Perrin, and Copeland Louis led the Hood River Valley (HRV)cross country teams — along with more than 120 other schools — at the Sept. 26 Nike Portland XC invitational meet at Blue Lake Regional Park.
Davis and Perrin competed in the girls Danner Championship 5,000-meter race. Davis, making her high school cross country debut, finished 32nd in 18 minutes, 24 seconds — the fastest time in the Northwest Oregon Conference (NWOC) this season. (Davis, an accomplished track and field distance runner, played volleyball earlier this fall of her sophomore year.) Perrin, a senior, was 62nd in 19:04, a personal best and the second fastest time in the NWOC thus far.
The other HRV varsity runners competed in the Division 3 varsity race. The five team scorers for the Eagles were: Noah Crain, 57th, 22:50; Freya Nelson, 75th, 23:18; Piper Johnson, 77th, 23:21; Lilli Nydahl, 111th, 24:32 (personal record); and Sophia Ransom, 119th, 24:58. Vivian Faber was 121st in 25:00 (personal best) for HRV.
The Hood River varsity boys team competed in the Division 1 race. Sophomore Copeland Louis was 51st in a personal best 16:46; Victor Coffman was 62nd in 16:54; Joshua Carley was 83rd in 17:11 (PR); Andres Moretti was 120th in 17:39; and Colin Gerald was 160th in 18:21.
