Fourteen HRV Nordic team skiers competed in the team’s first race of the season on Jan. 7 at Teacup Nordic Snow Park in the Mt. Hood National Forest.
Hood River Valley’s Thorsen Welch was eighth in giant slalom and 10th in slalom, leading Gorge skiers at last week’s state ski championships at Mt. Hood Meadows.
The Dalles boys ski team and select girls and boys skiers from Hood River and The Dalles, will compete this week in the 2022 OISRA State Championships.
The Dalles boys ski team finished second at a slalom race at Cooper Spur on Friday, and Hood River Valley’s Emily Teets won her third individual race in as many tries this Mt. Hood League season.
Emily Teets of Hood River Valley posted the two fastest times in the girls giant slalom Mt. Hood League ski race Saturday at Mt. Hood Meadows.
Teets went 51.44 seconds on her first run and 50.21 on her second for a combined time of 1:41.65. That placed her six seconds better than runner-up Aspen Hand of St. Mary’s Academy. Hood River Valley did not have two complete runs from at least three skiers and therefore did not post a team time.
The Dalles High Riverhawks and the Hood River Valley High Eagles ski teams competed in their first Mt. Hood League (MHL) slalom race Jan. 14 at Mt. Hood Meadows and seven skiers notched top-10 finishes.
Fifteen skiers make up The Dalles High Riverhawks boys and girls ski team, which will soon be zooming down the steep, snow-covered slopes of Mount Hood.
