Flora Gibson file photoA lively weekend of music, demonstrations, art, vendors and a parade will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Shaniko Days festival on Aug. 2-4.
The fun starts Friday with live music: Idaho fiddler and country band, Craig & Friends, and Hectic Week.
Well-known singer-songwriter Joni Harms, Pheonix Duo and cowboy poet John Bowerman will perform on Saturday. Harms will join Ben Johnson on Sunday.
Country Field Good Time Band’s free concert is set for 7 p.m. Saturday night, with a 21-plus free beer garden by Wild Ride Brew.
A cake auction, raffles, food vendors, cloggers, arts and crafts and historic demonstrations are spread over all three days.
“As a small town of 30 this is a big undertaking ... Any amount is greatly appreciated,” said Sandy Cereghino, co-chair of Shaniko Tourism Committee. Sponsors are sought to help cover the festival’s cost, and will be noted on banners around town and the Shaniko Facebook page.
