This week’s photo, shows the Covington fish wheel, near Three-Mile Rapids, according to a museum record. As noted by reader and historian Marylin Urness, fish wheels were outlawed in 1934, and the presence of cottonwood trees in the background makes the exact location a little mysterious.

Threemile rapids was located just west of the current The Dalles Bridge.
