HOOD RIVER — Kids of all ages and the adults in their lives are invited to attend the Growing Gardeners Kids’ Corner on Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Gorge Master Gardener Association greenhouse on the OSU Extension Service grounds, 2990 Experiment Station Drive.
This free event for kids will include activities like a scavenger hunt, art project, and rock decorating. All kids who participate will receive a seed starting kit so they can start their own plant at home.
This event will be held at the same time and place as the Central Gorge Master Gardener Spring Plant Sale, where there will be locally grown plants for sale and educational programs for everyone.
The Garden Gathering series of monthly workshops will be presenting 10-minutepop-up workshops throughout the Plant Sale.
9:30 a.m. — Tomatoes! How to select the right varieties for your garden and give your plants a great start.
10:30 a.m. — How to plant and care for lavender. Watering needs and pruning will be explained.
11:30 a.m. — Selecting vegetable plants that grow well in containers and the right soil mix for successful growth and bountiful harvest.

Central Gorge Master Gardeners provides free beginning gardening classes and continuing education to home gardeners, and is a division of the OSU Hood River County Extension Service. The Master Gardener Plant Sale is a fundraiser for the Central Gorge Master Gardener Association.
