THE GORGE — The Community Action Network is a robust state and local force that helps empower hardworking families to achieve economic stability and independence. There are nearly 1,000 agencies across the country working every day to create economic opportunities, strengthen local communities, and help families find pathways to prosperity. This year, Mid-Columbia Community Action Council (MCCAC), Oregon Human Development Corporation (OHDC), and Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP), proud members of the Community Action Network, commemorate the long legacy of helping families throughout the Mid-Columbia region.

Since 1966, MCCAC has been supporting families in Hood River, Wasco, and Sherman counties. OHDC has been strengthening agricultural communities statewide since 1979. WAGAP has served the communities of Klickitat and Skamania counties for 60 years. These three agencies offer a variety of programs tailored to the needs of the community, from wildfire recovery response and workforce development to shelter services and utility assistance. Each Community Action Agency (CAA) responds to the needs of the community based on information gathered through the Community Needs Assessments and pivoting services to address emergent needs such as disaster recovery.
